A Note from Sandie
September/October
2010
Did your summer go by as quickly as ours did? As I write
this, we are working on finalizing our Labor Day weekend plans, but we've sure
made the most of our summer by adding lots of miles to the minivan and snapshots
to our albums. We hope you've been able to make some memories with your family
this summer, too.
Fall is one of the busiest times of the year on the Family
Events Calendar. In addition to the activities in the book, there are more on
the website (ParentsSource.com) as well as links for more information. We have
also added a new feature to our website that combines our experiences this
summer with more information about exciting upcoming family events in our area
. Check out the video link on our home page learn more about some cool
activities you and your family can take advantage of.
At this time last year, we were packing our older son up
for college. This was the culmination of years of planning, and what seemed
like years of filling out forms and combing through college information. If
your high school student is planning to attend college, then be sure to read
Myrna Fuchs' article Finding Your Best College Matches. She goes through the
process of how your child (and you) can find the right college. The many steps
and things to be aware of may seem daunting, but, as the article asserts, there
is a good college match for everyone who wants to go.
Our humor article is
26 Ways to Annoy Your Children
written by our returning humorist Lela Davidson in response to a school essay
her son came home with on the A to Z of annoying his mom. Moms (and dads) can
definitely relate to some of the ways Lela comes up with to annoy her kids. I
know I have done several of these (hey, I like to sing along to the radio -
regardless of who's in the car) - if my kids aren't annoyed at me at least some
of the time, I must be doing something wrong!
I hope you made the most of your summer and are ready for
fall. It really can be a great time of the year when the kids can appreciate
their time off more and the school routine brings back a sense of normalcy to
the household.
