The Salvation Army of Chester County
http://www.thesalvationarmy.org/
The Salvation Army West Chester Corps is committed to meeting the needs of
the community through crisis alleviation by assisting area individuals with
food, clothing, prescriptions, rent, furniture, utilities and housing. Our
approach focuses on what is required to make these individuals self-sufficient.
To do this, we stress education, initiative and personal development -- helping
clients to learn problem solving and self reliance skills. We strive to meet the
needs of the complete person, spiritually, socially and physically. Social Services provides counseling and referrals for those in need. In
addition to the assistance mentioned above, we also administer the West
Chester Food Bank. Food is distributed during Social Service business
hours, but clients are encouraged to come to the twice weekly free food
distribution. For those West Chester residents who are in need, but who have
physical difficulty in availing themselves of our walk-in food services, food is
delivered monthly through our Food Outreach Program. Special Programs include holiday baskets of food, gifts and the Angel Tree
as well as the Adopt-a-Family program to help make Christmas special for
those in need. (CC, F, D)
